Fee Will

Over the past few weeks, I have noticed that our “FREE WILL” gets us into more trouble in our lives than other things.  FREE WILL is an obstacle for many, especially children who are “testing” the do this not this of their parents “parenting” of a little ones FREE WILL.  Let me give a couple of childhood testing of this FREE WILL topic.  All children are anxious to test the limits of their own FREE WILL to do what they want when they want, even if they know they may get hurt, but the urge is still there to defy a parent’s warning not to do something.

How many times have you seen a child stand up on the seat of a chair and try to lean back or sit on top of the back of the chair only to find themselves on the floor crying for the goose knot on the back of their head? The momentary look of fear sweeps across their face and they know their FREE WILL decision was wrong and now it’s going to hurt.  Or perhaps you have seen this play out, a child who ordered something in a restaurant and the straw or catsup or side dish failed to appear when their meal was set before them. I have seen parents give clear polite instruction to the child on how to gain the waiter’s attention and ask politely for the missing item.  After a failed attempt, one child stood up on their chair and shouted to the waiter: “Hey, don’t you see me trying to get the catsup?”

When our FREE WILL reigns in our lives [and it does on a daily basis] we have more serious issues due to our poor decision making.  This past year, I have broached the subject of asking this: “Who sits on God’s throne?” in your life? Let me ask that question again: “Who sits on God’s throne when FREE WILL reigns in your life?”  The answer is YOU! You and your FREE WILL have taken God’s place in your life and this will lead you down a path of destruction. When this happens you no longer have God to guide you, to look up to for help and to have a relationship with.  “Satan” has you in his clever snare, keeping you stuck there, thinking you have all the answers, and you can 100% depend on yourself to figure things out without any one else’s help.

This next month, I encourage you to raise your awareness and see how often you have this thought: “I can figure this out!  I am not dumb!  I know people who can help me find the answer!”  How often do you dethrone God and put yourself and your FREE WILL on the throne.  If you are looking for a biblical answer, you can always say a prayer and ask God to take over the challenge, the fight, the problem and for Him to lead you on the path to His solution vs your solution.  Don’t believe me?  Okay, you know that is your FREE talking again!  Try it and ask God to show you the way.  His answer may surprise you.

I’ve been coaching, mentoring, writing and teaching for more than 20+ years and I am still amazed at how a person’s FREE WILL can wreak havoc in life.  I believe we get into a pattern, a habit if you will of depending on ourselves and carry the burden on our own back failing to ask for help thinking asking for help will make us “less than!”

If you’d like a friend to walk beside you during your current tough time and lead you back to asking God for His help, I’d be glad to help you with that.  Shoot me an email at the address below and let’s get started.
