Confused & Misdirected in Your Decision Making?

For most of the summer in 2025, I have been in recovery mode from an operation.  I have had a lot of time to read, to think and to observe the world around me and across this country of ours as I had to travel coast to coast.  Do you know what my overall experience, perspective have gained me?  I see a nation full of “hate.”  Yes, HATE.  It didn’t seem to matter where I was or who I was with.  I will take exception to the fabulous few who went above and beyond in my journey, this does not include you, and you know who you all are!  I did see great hope for the future in those who were and still are superstars!!!

Why is it that people think that if they flip another person the middle finger – the situation will change? Why do drivers believe that if they lay down on their car horn, things will change in the traffic? What happens if you yell, cuss or are just plain rude to another person in the same mess you are in, you believe the situation will change?  When a group of individuals “cue up” to board a plane, they all rush the gate attendant, wanting to board first?  Do they not know that they will all leave at the same time when the door is closed?  Then, of course, every flight I have ever been on has one person who believes they are entitled to something they are not.  Or the passenger who just can’t help themselves to be rude, talk loudly the entire flight or simply to be obnoxious.

What drives the human being to behave in such a manner?

As I have pondered this, [giving as much grace as I can], some truths have bubbled up to the forefront of my thinking.  I have listed them below, and I’d like to know what you think about your own encounters with your fellow humans.

Do you hold a belief about someone, or some event that may be “untrue?”

If this is the case, then when do you first experience this “untruth?”

What if you might want to change your untruth to something different – say the truth about that someone or that event?

Sometimes we must choose to “unlearn” a lie in order to live and think and act differently.

As you sit here pondering these questions, think about the last time you “blew-up” about someone or something.  I bet you blew off some steam, but the situation didn’t change, did it?  You were still faced with the same thing.

So, who or what must we decide to change?  We all know that there are some things that will never change.  Name a few.

  • Long queues at the airport
  • Rude drivers
  • Negative news
  • Disappointments
  • Failures
  • Politics
  • Differences of opinion

The list is endless, right?  So, what can change?

Your and my “PERSPECTIVE” of people and events.

What is a “PERSPECTIVE” anyway?

“It is the point of view from which to see things in their true relations or relative importance.”

From my perspective, what I see again and again is this:  Individuals have a trunk for of “triggers” that they have carried around since they were toddlers and this is how they see everything in their lives.  It’s not about someone else; it is about Y-O-U!

It is time to reign yourself in and begin some deep reflection.
