“Will God meet all my needs?”
Have you ever pondered the real meaning of Philippians 4:19? If so, then you may also have encountered some frustration.
“What about this need I have had for years?” you may wonder.
“Doesn’t God care about that aching hole in my heart? “
“Doesn’t God care about this [insert the specific thing[s] here] that has been hurting me physically, mentally, and spiritually forever?”
“Why doesn’t HE do something about it?”
“I continually cry out and pray, but nothing happens!”
If you are like most people, you have tried to “FIX” it yourself or tried to “FIGURE” it out yourself. You are not alone, my friend!
Deep inside your spirit, you KNOW only GOD can move mountains! This knowledge only seems to bring on more frustration in your daily life. When your life in this stressful downward cycle, you will spiral down into a feeling of “lack of control” in it seems every area of your life, and doubt and discouragement set in.
Sometimes we may even question “God’s Timing” – which is not a good thing!
We may question “God Doesn’t Care” about my needs – this is also not a good thing!
Grab onto HOPE, my friend, and hear this good news from God. This is exactly the position HE wants in you – to be dependent on HIM vs yourself. God doesn’t delight in seeing you in a place of suffering or even in a state of mental confusion. Look in your Bible at Hebrews 12: 4 -11. In this passage the reason is explained: this delay is meant to “strengthen” your faith and reliance on HIM! We are not meant nor were we created to be, self-sufficient.
Do you know what happens when we lean on our own strength? We set ourselves up for disappointment, for a trial, and for temptation which will lead directly to SIN. I find it interesting that this is and has been our “go-to modality” in life, and if you think about it, it has always been what humans do!
When we leave God’s plan for our lives, we set ourselves up for failure. In the book of James in the New Testament James 1:12 says: “Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him.” Please note here the words “endures temptation.”
Recently in my church one of our pastors talked about this very thing. What do we do when the delays last for years, a lifetime, what then? The evil one will continue to hammer hard and tempt you through continuous grumblings, complaining about the situation, place, thing, or person, feelings of inadequacy, guilt, and failure. If this is YOU, he’s got you right where he can create a “STRONGHOLD” in your life.
Last year, in my small group, we studied the reasons our prayers may go unanswered. Here is the highlight of that study.
- Unconfessed SIN
- Wrong Motives
- Unbelief ~ fearing God does not want to answer, or fearing you are asking for something too great or too difficult for God to answer
- Roadblocks to unanswered prayer: Anger, Idolatry, Indifference, Hypocrisy, Unforgiving Spirit, or Broken Relationships.
Now, it’s your turn to bow your head and ask God to reveal where you are stuck in this time of confusion, frustration, and chaos in your life. Do not rush this process. You may be waiting in stillness for some time. Empty your mind of all emotion, your to-do lists, and noise, and seek a quiet spot to focus. You may need to go outside or to a place you associate with peace. You may also want to open your Bible and read the thousands of God’s promises.
