We’ve rounded the last corner and are on our way home to the finish line for the “Great Race of 2024!” Congratulations, you are almost there!
What has happened in your life this year? Do you realize that every day this past year, as I write this some 307 days has impacted your life!? I know, I have a calendar which tells me how many days have gone by and how many I have left to impact the world, my life and those I know and love. Today, that number is 89!
This past August my father just shy of 93 changed his address from Ohio to Heaven. While reflecting on his passing, this idea of time spent and time left popped into my head. If I look at this concept through my father’s timeline it looks like this: The morning he died he lived 232 days in 2024 and there were 134 days left. In his lifetime he lived –
92 years x 365 = 33,580 days plus the 232 days of 2024 = 33,812 days.
I challenge you to do the math in your own life right now. God will ask for an account of what you did with the life he gave you. What did you do? What are you doing with this precious thing called “LIFE?”
This conversation is about raising our awareness about our lives and the days we live those lives, and what we are doing to bring more non-believers into the kingdom so that none will perish in the fires and darkness of Hell.
I personally have non-believing relatives and extended relatives who died well past the age of 100 and were not saved. I feel a tinge of sadness any time their birthday comes around that I will never see them again and where they are now and where they will spend eternity. We have each been given free will to make decisions in our lives and with each of those decisions comes a consequence. Some of our decisions yield great happy consequences and some yield gut wrenching pain that lasts a lifetime. This past week, I saw so many great memes on my social media feed. I’d like to share a couple with you here.
“A good person brings good things out of the good stored up in their heart, and an evil person brings evil things out of the evil stored up in their heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” ~ Luke 6:45
I cried out to the Lord and said, “This pressure is too great, the attacks are too many. I am not equipped for this.” God replied to my spirit, “What voice are you listening to? Because I’m the One Who made you for this.”
“Don’t gamble with eternity. Hell has no exit doors. The moment we take our last breath, there will be no re-dos. Seek the Lord while He may be found. If you believe Jesus, the only way to Heaven say: AMEN!
What am I talking about here you may wonder. I am talking about being accountable for what you decide to do with each day you are given from the moment your eyes open. Let me ask you: Do you jump out of bed and pick up your phone, worrying that you may have missed something overnight? Are you crazy!?! Let’s get real here. Whatever happened, happened and their isn’t anything you can do about it – because it is in the past.
Again remember, God is going to ask you: “What did you do with those 33,000+ days I gave you?” You have now been made aware. If you choose to do nothing about that, then your head is in the sand, and you have just chosen your consequence.
I’d like to give you a little perspective on rounding the corner of 2024 and see if you might be willing to incorporate these three things into the remaining days of 2024.
- Find common ground with others these last 89 days of 2024. If you are like me, you can’t wait for all the political ads to cease and the Medicare reminder signup ads to end already!
- Add the following to your life: Hope, Life, Lifting People Up, Blessing Others, and being Salt ‘n Light. In other words, add VALUE to people. No one deserves to be beaten down with your thoughts, opinions, and voice. You don’t like it, and neither do they. In the end, it doesn’t matter who wins.
- Travel the High Road in the remaining days of 2024. If you live like Jesus, people will not only like you, they will like Jesus. If you don’t live like Jesus, people will not like you either.
We are citizens of Heaven. If you are a believer, you are an Ambassador of Christ and you represent Him. Jesus saw all people as VALUABLE and WORTHY of salvation. Jesus saw people as they could be. Jesus did not see people as their past, their sins, their status, or who they despised. We have all sinned and want to be forgiven.
You know Jesus didn’t look at His 33 years of life on this earth with His mandate from His Heavenly Father and say: Okay, I’m going to keep score down here. NO! Those who keep score, are choosing the LOW ROAD of Leadership in their lives and it shows up everywhere and they cannot hide it from GOD.
If you find yourself in a tough spot right now in 2024 let me leave you with this:
Grace overcomes Guilt
Prayer overcomes Panic
Generosity overcomes Greed
Action overcomes Apathy
Impact overcomes Irrelevance
“Whatever happens, conduct yourself es in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ…that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; in no way alarmed by your opponents…” ~Philippians 1: 27-28
