Today is a gift to you. Inside this gift are all sorts of decisions that you get to make throughout your day. Did you ever think of today’s choices as a gift that you can enjoy, a gift you choose not to open up due to fear or perhaps you just push the gift to the side of your desk and say you can’t be bothered, because you have no time?
The bottom line here is that every choice, every decision you make has a consequence. Sometimes the consequence is a good one. Sometimes the consequence really hurts your life. Either way the consequence happens. Missed opportunities lay beside the road of life unwrapped and the wonderful consequences that were inside the gift are never realized. There are also gifts laying there that looked very attractive in their presentation, which were not the gift they appeared to be.
You know if you do not know where you are going, it really doesn’t matter what road you take, or the decisions that you make because you will continue to go around and around that same non commitment and no decision and just exist. Each of us has to know what it is that we actually want. “I want it all and I want it now”, is not a mature attitude upon which to base your life. If you had it all right now you would quickly find that you are not mature enough to handle the awesome responsibility that comes with having it all.
Are you one of the many who have been labeled “high potential”, “most likely to…”? How have you faced the opportunities placed in front of you? Like many who are successful you will find it is a lot like climbing a rock wall. You get strapped in. Then you grab hold with your hands and place your feet and begin to climb. If you are new to rock climbing, you will find yourself fatigued quickly and realize just how heavy you are to lift up and pull up with each vertical move. You really “hit the wall” with stamina, just like you do when tackling a challenge. You way is blocked by something, call it fear, challenge, problem, stamina, lack of skill set or knowledge whatever it is, will stop you. When you regain a foot hold and you energy back you climb on higher. This is the same thing that happens in business and in our daily lives.
At the end of the day when you look back at your opened present you will see how much you have to be thankful for and how much you actually accomplished in a brief time period. If you didn’t open your gift, my hunch is that you are still floundering in indecision. If you pushed the gift aside, because you were too busy or couldn’t be bothered, then an opportunity is now gone for you.
When you wake up tomorrow morning, there will be a gift at the foot of your bed. What will you do with it?
