To Every Thing There Is A Season

Last Friday @ 7:44 am Eastern Standard Time, Spring arrived at my house.  Or at least that is what I heard before I looked out the window.  As I left my bedroom and headed to the kitchen I started to glance out my windows only to be greeted by a blanket of white laying onto of the grass and upon the bare limbs of the woods around my home.

It is now a week later.  The snow is gone, it is still cold out there, but there are fresh green signs of Spring.  Out side my office window I can now clearly see about 4 inches of green leaves popping out and the knowledge that the beautiful fragrant bulbs are coming my way shortly.

This is exactly how, we go through the seasons of our own lives.  We think that because we have reached 30, that something specific is going to happen on that day.  Or perhaps it is 40, and you go to your eye doctor and he says, “…yep…you’re about 40…..that’s when the eyes go and your arms become too short….!”  Perhaps, it is the big 5 – 0.   You must be ancient!  There is no exact day or moment that things just happen or you “cross over” into whatever it is that you have built up a fear in your life about.

Seasons, slowly pass on from one moment to the next. Yes, you might have a twinge of something for a moment and then eventually a persistence and then you know.  To the exhausted mother of a new born, she would just about do anything for just 1 night of deep sleep and restorative rest.  Yes, it does come but, not really for about 18 more years and then that peaceful deep sleep seems to be the norm.

Take all things in stride.  Your season will come.  There have been many songs sung, many films made about this famous 8 verses found in Ecclesiastes.  Read this slowly and drink in what the verses so familiar say to you.

To everything there is a season.

A time for every purpose under heaven.

A time to be born, a time to die

A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal;

A time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

A time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones;

A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to gain, and a time to lose;

A time to keep, and a time to throw away;

A time to tear, and a time to sew;

A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate;

A time of war, and a time of peace.

I want to point something out here to you, that I know that you have never seen in this beautiful piece about how “life” happens here on our beautiful blue planet.  Look at this piece on more time and see if you can hear what is really being said.

Did you see it?

It was repeated 29 times!

The answer is “TIME”.  To everything there is  “A Time”.  There is enough time for me and there is enough time for you.  How will you spend your time today in this season of your life?
