Last time I told you about the 4 Corner Stones of life and the 8 Areas of your life which make up your “Core Foundation”. It is from this core that we launch our beliefs, our decisions, our emotions, our daily way of living.
So many factors go into this entire process of just living.
Let’s begin your own Mental Health Check in the area of your “Career” shall we? How is your mental health in terms of your own career?
On a scale of 1 to 10 how is it? What are you basing your number on? You see when we do not have something to measure the number to we really have an inaccurate assessment of how mentally healthy we are.
We believe what we are told in our performance review. We listen to the gossip of the cubical next door. We have lunch with the sales people and we get yet another view of life. What about the expectations of parents, spouses, lovers, friends, neighbors? Whose opinion counts the most to you?
What do you think about where you are and what you think about your career? What is playing inside your own head when it comes to own mental health tapes, looping over and over again?
Take a moment here and really think about where you started, how far you have come and where you are right now.
Give yourself credit for how far you have come. (Even if you started yesterday!)
Look ahead and see where you might like to be this time next year.
How can you get there by planning right now and getting a positive self loop playing upstairs in your head?
If you are unable or unwilling to do this exercise, it is time to have a real head to head, heart to heart with yourself in the company of a neutral party. Someone to just be a sounding board and write down what you come up with. Look at this as your own “Master Planning Time”. Having someone else there to do the writing, frees you up to just be the “idea” person.
This is a very freeing process.
