I am a firm believer is disconnecting and then experiencing something new such as a fun family vacation or trip to a place that you have always wanted to go. This "Family Fun" is our tip # 7 in our 10 tips for life moves and transitions.
"Family Fun" serves several purposes; It is vitally important to let go of the stress of the MOVE! Family Fun disconnects one event from the other. Every family will have their own way of achieving this.
For young adults this is also vital. It may not look like what you think it will look like at all. Perhaps there will be a parade of friends and acquaintances parading through your home for weeks or showing up at your table. Perhaps the young adult will suddenly announce that they are going to "where ever" and will be back in a couple of days. This is their way of transitioning from home to the world. Except for the essential pieces of information (which today amounts to: "Do you have your cell phone and CHARGER!" that’s all you are probably going to get out of them. They truly have not made hotel reservations nor is it the number one item on their list.
