Hello September 2022

Summer is over and what have I got to show for it? On September 1st we had 121 days left in 2022. What are you going to do with those 121 days?

Perhaps you are already planning for Fall Decorations, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or dare to dream – Christmas Shopping!  I will not shame you here about what your priorities are today. What I would like to do is to refocus your thinking for a moment if you will give me your attention.

For many Christians here in the US, September is the start of the Fall Small Group Season. This is a collection of church goers who gather in groups to study the Bible, a book, or some scriptural study for the season until Advent begins right after Thanksgiving.

I have been reading extensively this summer and I jotted down some questions that piqued my interest and I am wondering what your answer might be to them. Game?

  1. What does God want you to know about Him?
  2. Does God only see in black and white; sinful and forgiven?
  3. What is your greatest resource?
  4. How do you stay positive in such a toxic media environment?
  5. Where does your Freedom really come from?
  6. What is God looking for in your behavior?
  7. What were you born for?
  8. How are you growing today?
  9. Who is your mentor?
  10. What question do you have that has never been answered?

These are great questions.  I think about them all the time.  Do you?

Would you like some answers from my perspective?

1: What does God want you to know about Him?

God wants you to know that He LOVES you!  He loves you unconditionally.  He has always LOVED you.  He sent His son to DIE for your sins.

2: Does God only see in black and white; sinful and forgiven?

God is perfect.  So, the answer is YES, He sees in black and white in terms of your life either being one where you sin, or you live a life that is sinless.  Now if you have been exposed to Christianity, then you know; NO ONE has ever lived or ever will live a life of perfection, which is to say SINLESS, except Jesus.  So the course to take is to stay close to GOD and immediately right your sinfulness by confessing and asking for forgiveness.

3: What is your greatest resource?

Every Christian’s greatest resource is PRAYER. This is how we remain close to God and how we communicate to Him.

4: How do you stay positive in such a toxic media environment?

We are all touched by the toxic media whether we want to be or not.  We can, however, insulate ourselves by taking it in small doses and surrounding ourselves with other believers, attending a Bible teaching church, being in a small group and having Christian friends upon whom to lean during tough and trying times.

5: Where does your Freedom really come from?

A Christians freedom lies in Jesus.  He has promised eternal life in heaven to all those whose name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.  Eternity is your eternal freedom.

6: What is God looking for in your behavior?

God is looking for you to be “Salt ‘n Light” to the world.  He is looking for you to live a life which is “Christ- Centered”.  No more no less.

7: What were you born for?

When a person accepts Christ, they are indwelled with the Holy Spirit and the H.S. in turn gives the new Christian one of seven spiritual gifts.  As a person matures and grows in Christ, one of these gifts will surface which will provide a clear understanding of what God has given breath to the believer to do to expand His kingdom and bring as many non-believers as possible in the service of that gift to Eternal Life.

8: How are you growing today?

My friend John Maxwell always says this:  to GROW in God, you must be willing to set Him as your priority daily! Growth must happen with clear intention. Our vertical relationship with God is our priority, and when we put God first the rest of the day will unfold as it should.

9: Who is your mentor?

A mentor can be anyone. A mentor may be a person from your past, a relative, a book, an author who impacts and resonates with you, or even a person in your life today. Usually that person has already walked the road you are walking, however sometimes it is possible for the person to be younger than you are who has a perspective or life experience you do not have.

10: What question do you have that has never been answered?

Write to me and let me know what questions you have.  I would be happy to give you an answer!  😊
